Don’t burden the, er, shoulder.

My shoulder’s been a little wonky. Have I been neglecting good body mechanics during massage sessions? Not paying attention to my form during workouts? I’m not sure. But I do know that the long head of my biceps has been crying out.

In addition to some PT, chiropractic (ART), acupuncture, and careful workouts, I made an essential oil blend last night, which reduced pain this morning:

PATRICK’S SHOULDER BLEND

  • 1 tbs Jojoba
  • 2 drops German (blue) Chamomile essential oil
  • 1 drop Black Pepper essential oil

Directions: Massage into the shoulder joint, focusing on cross-fiber friction to the long head of the biceps tendon.

The jojoba is deeply penetrating and great for the skin. German chamomile is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory oils, a great healer. Black pepper brings warmth and promotes circulation, bringing blood and oxygen to the area for healing.

Today my shoulder feels much looser, less painful. And I didn’t have to take a pill!
